Spiritual Energy Ranks - Guide
Here on Slashing Opera we use an incredibly simple system to determine a person's rank. The system we use mirrors the Wiki system, to allow easier perception and understanding of these ranks. Unlike in the show, higher ranked Spiritual Power levels won't be given to every Captain/Espada/Stern Ritter. Here at Slashing Opera we encourage improvement, and we encourage people to strive toward and work hard for those higher ranks. That being said, the highest a character can start with at creation will be: High.
The Ranks
Basic/Low Spiritual Power - this is the very lowest amount of spiritual pressure available. Not given out regularly, it is often a level given by choice of the creator who would like to start from the bottom and work their way up. At this level you are a regular human, or you may be a Spiritually Aware human and able to see Plus Souls and hollows. In some cases, it could even be an incredibly weak Shinigami.
Canon Examples: Yuzu Kurosaki, Kon, Shikai-less Shinigami, Soldat
Average Spiritual Power - this is a development from just being able to see souls and hollows. At this level your abilities have become developed and you are able to shape more and more of your abilities. At this level you also begin to unlock all other race specific releases - shikai, fullbring, resurrección, how to form your spiritual weapon, and can even have them mastered.
Canon Examples: Hanataro Yamada, Orihime Inoue, Riruka Dokugamine
High Spiritual Power - at this point, your character has become a decently recognized powerhouse. Among their respective organizations, they most likely hold high seats. You've more than likely mastered your release and most, if not all, of their subsequent techniques. At this level your spiritual pressure begins to take on several features - like a distinct color and maybe even an added effect. Many begin training their bankai at this level.
Canon Examples: Hinamori Momo, Cyan Sung-Sun, Jackie Tristan, Uryū Ishida
Great Spiritual Power - gaining incredible power, you're no doubt a valuable asset to anyone who can gain your alliance. It is also at this level, that many people begin to ascend past their intial releases and work with them further. Bankai, Segunda Etapa, Quincy: Vollständig, Fullbring: Jōtai Ni, and even evolving human powers to a much stronger level. You can strike fear into many just with the releasing of your spiritual pressure.
Canon Examples: Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Tier Harribel, Shūkurō Tsukishima, Bambietta Basterbine
Immense Spiritual Power - this is the epitome of power attainable by any Playable Character. At this stage you are incredibly strong, able to subdue many with nothing but your spiritual pressure. Your gifts and strength are known by all, and feared by your enemies. You've mastered your secondary release, and now many look up to you as a leader and beacon of idolism.
Canon Examples: Byakuya Kuchiki, Coyote Starrk, Kugo Ginjo, Jugram Haschwalth
Profile Guide
Unlike many sites, which require a very static profile, Slashing Opera allows a member to create their own template. While there are rules and regulations for the template, namely what must be included, any coding the member wishes to use with their character is allowed.
When posted a profile, there will be two separate parts. The first part is the profile itself, detailing the general information of the character. Once this is approved, the member can begin roleplaying. The second part is where all of a character’s releases, skills, and techniques will be added by staff. These three items are approved in a separate thread, and the second post is created by staff. After approval, the staff member will ask for the requested coding of the second post.
Things required in the first post of the profile are as follows.
NAME: The name of your character. It is suggested that the name of the character fit the theme of the faction, IE: japanese names for shinigami. This is not always required.
ALIAS: Any nicknames or aliases your character goes by. If there are none, feel free to leave this out.
AGE: The age of your character. It is suggested you give the age of appearance as well, though this is not required.
APPEARANCE: What your character looks like. Pictures suffice, though text descriptions are also suggested.
PERSONALITY: The personality of your character. This can be a list of traits or written as paragraphs.
ALLIANCE: The alliance of your character. If they belong to none, then state “Rogue” if a rogue shinigami or “Vagabond” if anything else.
HISTORY: History is both optional and required. In order to make a canon character, a history must be provided. It does not need to be lengthy, but it’s suggested to include the possible life and death of the character, and how they got to their current form today. For non-canon characters, history is not required.

Skills
Here on the Slashing Opera, a character’s ability to fight is determined not only by their spiritual power, but also by their skills. Skills are what your character is good at, what makes them unique and what makes them dangerous. We have a list of skills below that, while not all mandatory, are what we expect for characters. Not all apply to every character, of course. Additionally, members can create custom skills for their characters. When applying for a custom skill to have, just write it out like you would a normal skill.
When posting your skill level, you must choose one of five tiers for it: Novice, Practitioner, Expert, Master, or Perfected.
Novice: This tier of skill is very immature. A character is still learning the basics, and would have a hard time winning a fight without a little luck.
Practitioner: This tier means that the character has learned the basics well enough to fight in combat. This is where the learning of techniques also begins, as the basics have been mastered.
Expert: Reaching the expert tier means that a character is a professional in their skill. They know a good range of techniques and have the basics down well enough that they can counter most situations.
Masters: Mastering a skill is hard but worthwhile. A master knows a series of techniques or he knows enough of the basics that he can handle any situation. Additionally, masters often have a deep knowledge of how other skills work, or how opposing talents work, in order to perfectly counter.
Perfected: Perfecting a skill is nearly impossible, but the payoff is tremendous. Only those dedicated in their skill can hope to perfect it, and thus achieve feats that cannot be replicated by even masters of arts. A canon example of this would be Sui-Feng or Yoruichi, and their divine control over agility. Perfecting a skill often causes others to suffer due to the focus in that one skill.
Spiritual power rarely impacts a skill level, so a character with low spiritual power could be a master hand-to-hand fighter, and a character with immense spiritual power can be a novice in weapon play. Additionally, you must write out a blurb for your character and that particular skill, justifying their talents. An example would be:
EXPERT WEAPON USE: Joe Dirt has lived for ten billion years and has mastered every weapon mankind has ever created. He has a fancy for guns and knives, both of which he wields precisely and without fail. He's even been able to shoot the wings off of a fly.
The list of skills provided by us is as follows.
WEAPON USE: The ability of your character to use weapons. Make sure to specify if they use only a single weapon, or if they use a variety of them.
HAND-TO-HAND: The ability of a character to fight with their bodies.
AGILITY: How agile a character is, including how fast they are. This includes shunpo and sonido talent.
SPIRITUAL CONTROL: The character’s control over their spiritual power. This impacts how skillful they are with things like kidou, cero, and ginto use, as well as hiding spiritual power.
PERCEPTION: This is the character’s perception during combat. If you have a smarter character, they can likely tell what an ability can do by seeing it once. This also affects their ability to sense reiatsu of others.
Technique Guide
Here on Slashing Opera, our view on techniques is an extremely liberal one. We believe that a technique should not have to be extremely defined to be viable or fair. As a result, we respectfully request that members do not add in things such as definite speeds, exact costs, or charts and tables to show how abilities affect different opponents. While we do enjoy the enthusiasm, a technique should show what it does. If you want to throw a fireball, simply state that your character throws a powerful, speeding fireball that can deal severe burns to the target. Common sense will help dictate what happens between ranks, and any real arguments can be settled with a friendly PM to staff.
Now, there are also a few rules on techniques in general. Namely, a character cannot exceed more than thirteen techniques beyond their release, barring special circumstances. This applies to shinigami and their kidou as well. As we’ve seen in the series, and as said in the second databook, most shinigami learn a handful of kidou and master those and innovate them. Therefore, not even shinigami captains should have dozens of kidou.
The main exceptions are to those who explicitly state that they want to be a caster-type character. Something like a Kidoshu member, or an arrancar who focuses on the mastery of bala or cero. These characters will be allowed additional technique slots, handled on a case by case basis.
When it comes to registering techniques, outside of canon slots, most characters should not have abilities that are too astounding. An average shinigami, for instance, should not have the ability to throw out a black coffin; however, this is not an iron-clad rule. If a character starts with a history, and in that history they mention special events, training, or creation of unique techniques beyond the norm, we staff will be more than willing to approve them. For example, if you have a shinigami and state in the profile “_____ became a master of shunpo, and innovated it in numerous ways”, we’ll be happy to work with you on approving some crazy shunpo-based techniques. Now, it should be noted that this isn’t just a free card to insanely powerful or crazy things as a normal shinigami. Remember that everything is a case by case basis, and if something is illogical, it probably won’t be approved.
There is no strict technique template for Slashing Opera. We simply require that you provide us the name and details of your technique when you motion for their approval!
Release Guide
In Bleach, almost every race has some kind of special release or transformation that empowers them and gives them new abilities. Achieving some of these is simple, such as shikai, but others are not as easy to do, such as bankai or segunda etapa. Release abilities are often stronger and more unique and specifc then normal abilities. Additionally, releases are capable of performing feats that normal souls cannot. Below is the list of releases and how you can achieve them, should you not start with them at registration.
FULLBRING: Fullbring is achieved by a character that has a strong object they are connected too and fullbringing it to its true form. This generally happens in a very vivid explosion of power, though more subtle releases do exist. Fullbring are unique that when mastered, they release another explosion of spiritual power that, if not absorbed by someone else, can kill the user. A mastered fullbring can have seven techniques.
SHIKAI: This can be done through a series of threads, or a single epic thread, where the shinigami is imprinting their soul onto the asauchi and eventually learns the name. How you do this is up to the player; it can involve fighting, healing, partying, whatever you want! A shikai can have up to four techniques.
BANKAI: Aquiring bankai requires the character go through a trial with their zanpakutou spirit after manifesting it, ending with them subduing the spirit. Manifesting the spirit requires a HIGH SPIRITUAL ENERGY. Whatever the trial is is up to the player, though they can have others NPC if they wish. Bankai trials are graded extremely harshly, so you have to try really hard to achieve it! A bankai can have up to three techniques. Bankai can utilize shikai techniques.
RESURRECCIÓN: The initial release of an arrancar, it is unlocked the moment they become an arrancar. How they learn this is completely up to them, and can be done in virtually any way. A ress can have up to three techniques.
RESURRECCIÓN SEGUNDA ETAPA: This is the final, ultimate release of an arrancar. It is also the hardest release to attain on the site. The character in question must be a Vasto Lorde-class arrancar before hand. Additionally, they must have a GREAT SPIRITUAL POWER. Upon doing so, the arrancar in question is able to undergo a trial in which they must fully accept why they are a hollow, and must be in a situation in which they must evolve to survive. Generally multiple threads, or a single epic one, are required for this. Segunda Etapa improvements are graded extremely harshly, as achieving one instantly boosts a character to IMMENSE SPIRITUAL POWER. A Segunda Etapa can have one technique. The techniques of the first stage can be boosted up in this form to achieve new effects as well.
DOLL RELEASE: The releasing of a bount's doll is done through the bount being put through a high-stress situation, generally life endangerment, in which they need help to succeed. This in turn causes the doll to manifest. A doll can have up to five techniques.
DOLL MERGER: Merging with the doll is the equivalent of a bount’s bankai. It can only be performed with a HIGH SPIRITUAL POWER. Merging with the doll requires the character having become completely synchronized with it. Both doll and bount must share a bond so deep that they literally become a single being. Doing a merger is permanent, and when done instantly boosts the bount up to the next level of spiritual power. Thus, just as Segunda Etapa, doll mergers improvements are graded extremely heavily. A merger can have up to seven techniques; however, the original doll techniques are lost.
QUINCY: VOLLSTANDIG: Quincy: Vollstandig is an ability that grants a quincy a power up similar to that of Letz Stil. It can be activated and deactivated at a whim, and enhances a quincy's manipulation powers to their highest possible level. Thus, every single ability used while in the Vollstandig state is extremely powerful, capable of dealing immense amounts of damage. It must be granted by the Quincy King.
QUINCY: BUNTENGEL: Quincy: Buntengel is an ability similar to the Vollstandig. Only the Sternmord, Quincy who have poisoned themselves with hollow abilities, can achieve this level of power. Unlike the Vollstandig, which creates wings and armor of blue reishi, the Buntengel, or Stained Angel, appears to be composed of flowing lights, matching the seven colors of the rainbow. This is similar to the appearance of stained glass. While in the Buntengel state, a Sternmord is capable of matching feats of the strongest shnigami, supplemented with hollow reiryoku.
VISORED MASK: A visored mask can only be attained once a shinigami soul has been infected by a hollow's reiatsu. It then requires a special mixture of quincy arrows and humans soul to balance everything out, preventing soul suicide. Once this is done, and the shinigami dominates their new inner hollow spirit, they gain the ability to manifest a visored mask. A visored mask grants four different enhancements to the shinigami. These can be things such as enhanced durability or endurance, supplementary skills such as enhanced pain tolerance, or even effect your techniques in unique ways. In addition, the visored mask also thickens the shinigami's spiritual pressure, though this is merely cosmetic. The visored mask lasts for three posts. For every rank of spiritual control the shinigami has, up till mastered, the mask lasts an additional two posts. Once perfected, the mask can last an entire thread. Fighting a target with more spiritual pressure than the visored, or using bankai with the mask, lowers the mask time to a third of its normal duration.
The following release, VISORED RESURRECCIÓN, is currently locked until further notice!
